For more information you should contact your local embassy or check their website because each country can be different. Generally it is very easy, but we strongly recommend applying for a Tourist Visa. The important reason to apply a Tourist Visa is that you will be providing all services like pickup, transport, food, accommodation and others under a Tour Package.

All the team members have mobile phones, making contacts with volunteers convenient. You are always welcomed to get in contact with any of the staff member at any time round the clock on or off emergency on our cell phones during entire period of your stay/project work.

The volunteer’s home/host families are chosen to be nearer to health care centers so that in need you may consult without loss of time and effort.

Free Time – There will be plenty of time to relax in the evenings and weekends. In general volunteers tend to visit the local countryside, read, write their diaries, play sports and plan excursions to local points of interest. Most Friday evenings, volunteers arrange a get together to celebrate the end of the working week.

Health Issues and Vaccinations - Some countries require or suggest persons going abroad to have themselves vaccinated prescribed before departure and on entering the country abroad. It would be fair to view your country's government website for more information regarding the health of travelers. It is also recommended to visit the nearest travel clinic prior to your departure for abroad. Volunteer's Story

Dephnee Genesse, Canada
Work and Travel, February 2012

I love my experience with this organization. The home was in a safe part of Jaipur. I worked with
streets kids and I loved it because the children are amazing and smart. I’m gonna miss them so much. I really think that this program make a difference in their life. For the travel part, I enjoyed each moment of the trip. I mean we did pretty much everything that I wanted to see in the Rajasthan. We went to Pushkar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Agra and Ranthambore. Each destination has a charm and I liked pretty much all. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and maybe I’m gonna come back!

I think Sankalp is a great organization, and my stay here has been much more pleasant than I could ever hope for. The children are lovely, and with the nursery I think you will make a big improvement that will make the work a lot more comfortable for the volunteers and the work much more valuable for the kids. The weekend trips have been lot of fun, and a nice break from work. My wishes are that Sankalp continues to do its good work and continue to improve and grow. I have had a great time, and after this I will definitely do some more volunteering. The food and the accommodation have been great. I feel safe in this area. I would recommend Sankalp. Sankalp has given me a good experience and the staff has been very helpful.

I had a great experience joining the program. The communication was really good and I liked that I received information at home before I come to India. The government school was very nice and I found it comforting that I was joined by other teachers when I first started. Accommodation and food was amazing! The team was great. I felt really at home and I felt comfortable asking questions and everyone was really nice. I think the weekend trips are great selection of things to do in Rajasthan. I enjoyed all of them. Favorite was definitely the camel Safari. I love all the hotels. Really good value for money. The transportation was very good. I will definitely recommend Sankalp to others. I don’t think that there are better organizations in India then this one.

“I have always wanted to travel to India and volunteer so when I finally decided to do it I spent a lot of time researching organisation after organisation to find the right fit. I was looking for a good variety of program / volunteer work choices, good and safe location and good value for money. Amita and Pranay, the couple who run the organisation, are lovely and always willing to answer your questions and help with your problems. On the rare occasion that we have a problem they fix it straight away. They make sure that we are happy and safe without being over bearing and controlling which is nice. We have curfew at 10pm but this is purely for your safety and I think reasonable. They have good hearts and genuinely care about their volunteers, children and the success of the programs”
