- Volunteer In India for Free
Prepare yourself for a unique community service and volunteer experience in India, all without a program fee! This opportunity invites you to immerse yourself in vibrant local cultures while making a meaningful impact. If you are ready to step out of your comfort zone and contribute to something greater, this unforgettable volunteer travel experience in India awaits you for FREE.
In our effort to provide an affordable grassroots volunteer work and travel opportunity, we offer volunteering in India for FREE to everyone. You will have the opportunity to work with street children through our Street to School Project in Jaipur, established since 2006 with the aim of integrating these children into mainstream life. Our primary goal is to enrol them in government schools after primary education. We are proud to have successfully sent many of our students to government schools, where they have completed high school and continue their education.
First, submit an online application. Once your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email along with a request for the application fee deposit. While there is no program fee, all volunteers must pay an application fee of USD $250 per application that covers website maintenance, advertising and other administrative and operational expenses.
You will be picked up from Jaipur International Airport. Our driver will be waiting for you at the airport holding your name (placard) and will transfer you to your accommodation.
We provide shared accommodation (room only) with other volunteers in an apartment located in a safe and secure locality of Jaipur. The rooms will have attached washrooms with hot showers and western toilets. The apartment includes a kitchen area with all utensils for cooking. You will enjoy a true volunteer experience by preparing your own meals. You will have access to free 24/7 Wi-Fi and a landline phone service (local calls only) in the apartment itself. Supermarkets will be easily accessible from your accommodation.
You will have a program orientation next day of your arrival to understand the project, volunteer program concepts, culture and advice on how to behave in society while volunteering in India.
You will need to find daily transport to the project site. You can either use public transport or hire a rickshaw (tuk-tuk). We can also arrange daily transport upon request for an additional cost.
You will meet the children and program coordinator at the project site. An assistant will always be there, so you will not be alone. The school run from 10 AM to 1 PM.
The volunteers will teach English subject to the children, aligning with their current syllabus. Additionally, they can cover essential topics such as the alphabet, counting, the days of the week, the months of the year, and writing practice.
Afternoons, evenings, and weekends are free for you to prepare your lunch and dinner or explore Jaipur (Pink city), a UNESCO World Heritage site. On weekends, you can visit nearby popular sites such as Pushkar, Ranthambore, Delhi, Agra, and Jodhpur. We can also arrange your trips, please contact us or visit our add-on tours section and let us know your choice.

The street children program appears well organized and smoothly run. It was completely adverse to what I expected but I have a wild and eccentric imagination. I had thought it would literally be unorganized with kids of and of the street, the school, uniform and equipment, books etc was refreshing and I do get an impression that this will make an large difference to these kids lives. I feel in my month alone kids seemed to make much progress. I feel I have gained much experience and would not be adverse to work with children in the futures. My personal experience of the program has been more then positive, I always been smiling and everyday I have relished teaching. I build up very strong bonds with the children and feels heart wrenching to came away from them. The bonds made with the colleagues are also strong and I can keep in touch with them. The food and accommodation were great. I will definitely recommend Sankalp to others, especially for those who want a gentle dip into Indian Culture.
